A New Project Could Be Coming To Palm Beach Gardens

A new development project could be coming to Palm Beach Gardens. The Avenir development project will encompass the western end of Palm Beach Gardens and the plan has recently been submitted to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. The project is being preposed by Landmark Development of Coral Gables FL.

Avenir will be located on 4,763 acre north of Northlake Boulevard and south of Beeline highway. The projected is slated to have 3,250 homes, including 250 to be designated for affordable/workforce housing. The project will also have 2 million square feet of office, including 200,000 square feet of medical office space. There will also be 400,000 square feet of retail space, 300 hotel rooms, 20 acres for community agriculture, 15 acres for an elementary school, 55 acres for a city park, 15 acres for a police/fire/city annex, and 60 acres for civic recreational use.

Aver would also give away 2,407 acres for restoration to the public, which would create a conservation area and nature preserve.

Opponents of the project are worried that the project will create a lot of traffic. They are also worried about the nearby Grassy Waters Preserve, citing that it could cause problems to the preserve, which provides water to West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, and the Loxahatchee Slough.
