DEVELOPMENT ALERT: New Publix Plaza Coming to West Palm Beach County

West Palm Beach County Development

More local shopping is planned for the near future in West Palm Beach County.  Recently, developers broke ground on the Loxahatchee Groves Commons, expected to contain a Publix and a Tractor Supply Co., spanning more than 94,000 square feet in size and nearly 22 acres of land.  In addition, the site could also include additional retailers, restaurants, banks and other businesses in growing Loxahatchee Groves.

This new shopping center is one of just two new shopping centers planning to open in the area in 2016.  Loxahatchee Groves Commons is being developed by Atlantic Land Cos. at the intersection of B Road and Southern Boulevard.  This is just across from Binks Forest Road at Wellington’s western entrance.  It is also close to the new 75-acre campus of Palm Beach State College, currently under construction and expected to be completed in fall of 2016.  As well, it is close to Lion Country Safari. The location of this new shopping center is expected to be a popular one for residents of the numerous equestrian communities in the area, as well as from The Acreage and Loxahatchee Groves communities.

It’s taken eleven years, though, for the Loxahatchee Groves Commons to come to fruition.  Approvals have been held up by concerns and challenges from local residents over developing the land for commercial use.  However, now that construction has finally begun, it’s expected that the shopping center could open to the public in either late summer or even early fall of 2016.

Atlantic Land Cos. is also considering developing other retail centers within the county.  No details yet, though, have been released on any future projects.  Meanwhile, the only other new shopping center destined to open in 2016 in the region is Park Place.  Anchored by Fresh Market, the complex is currently under construction in Boca Raton.  It will be located along Military Trail.
