South Florida's Most Expensive Real Estate Sales in 2013

Luxury South Florida Real Estate As 2013 comes to a close, South Florida saw some VERY expensive real estate change hands this year as celebrities, sports stars, and business tycoons from all over the country all played a key role in what was a very good stretch for housing in the Sunshine State. Earlier this week, The Real Deal South Florida, a popular source for South Florida real estate news and updates, published its list of the most expensive South Florida residential sales of 2013, and a few of the names recorded you may just happen to recognize—take a look:

The most expensive real estate transaction in 2013 belongs to Howard Stern and the $40.8 million “Raiders Row” mansion he purchased in Palm Beach. The nickname “Raiders Row” relates to the large number of corporate tycoons living along North County Road, and it’s also where you can find the home of Rush Limbaugh and Nelson Peltz.

Alex Rodriguez, current 3rd baseman for the New York Yankees, has been in the news a lot recently for his involvement in using PEDs to boost his on-field performance, but earlier in May, he was also in the headlines for unloading his $30 million Miami Beach home—a home in which he netted a whopping $15 million profit.

The Philadelphia Eagles are having a great season under first-year head coach Chip Kelly. With a blowout win last night over Chicago’s beloved Bears, they’re now in position to win the NFC East with one more victory over the rival Dallas Cowboys next Sunday night. Team owner Jeffrey Lurie is also having quite a year with the acquisition of a stunning new Palm Beach mansion for a bargain price of just $28.5 million. We say “bargain” because the original asking price was set at $35 million. Not a bad little discount.

Renowned life coach and motivational speaker Tony Robbins is the proud new owner of a $24.75 million oceanfront home in Manalapan—a small community just south of West Palm Beach and Lake Worth. So what makes this home so special? Well, at the time, it was actually the only new construction home sitting directly on the ocean in all of Palm Beach County; so it’s safe to say, quite a bit of interest was there when it officially hit the market.
