Harbourside Place Named Among Urban Land Institute’s Projects of the Year
An exciting waterfront attraction in Jupiter just earned a major award from the Urban Land Institute Southeast Florida/Caribbean. The award was presented recently to Harbourside Place, making it a 2015 Project of the Year winner.
The prestigious award has been handed out for decades, honoring excellence in private and public development projects. The award encompassed the entire developmental process, with emphasis on development and design, plus land planning and more. Winning projects emphasize high achievement in the excellence of such things as urban/mixed use, office, commercial/retail and residential projects. Â
Harbourside Place collected the award for a private sector project. Opening in fall of 2015, the $150 million entertainment project consisted of planning and construction that took more than a decade to complete. Developed by Allied Capital & Development of South Florida, the dining, shopping and entertainment district is now operating in full swing, just one year after completion.
Located right along the Intracoastal Waterway, the destination features the Wyndham Grand Jupiter Hotel, along with a mix of Class A office space, retail stores, dining, an outdoor amphitheater and a marina. Spread across nine acres, the mixed-use development also teams up with non-profits for a range of community service projects. Additionally, events are planned throughout the year, from live music and entertainment, to paddle boarding, gallery events and other celebrations.
In receiving the award, Harbourside Place was also noted for contributing more than a half million dollars locally to the property tax base. Also noted was the successful EB5 component of its complex financing package.
The other project receiving a 2015 Project of the Year designation was Patricia Louise Frost Music Studios. This state-of-the-art facility is on the campus of the University of Miami and home to one of the nation’s top music programs. The site includes teaching and chamber music studios, a reception center and two large rehearsal halls. Other finalists mentioned for 2015 include the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Production Studio, located at Florida International, the New River Yacht Club in Fort Lauderdale and the Vagabond Hotel in Miami.
